The principles of the Blackjack Basic Strategy were developed by MIT professor of mathematics Edward O. Thorp, using the results of his thorough analysis and computer simulations. Soon after the publication of his book, many other blackjack analysts started their researches on the basis of the main principles stated in Thorp’s chef-d’oeuvre. The  Blackjack Basic Strategy can be described as a set of rules and recommendations for the player that advise the best ways on how to play their hands depending mostly on dealer up card and on the player total. It is the best way to maximise the profit applying the basic options such as Double Down, Split and Surrender. As most casinos do not provide the option of Surrender, it will not be discussed here.
